Shaune Bazner

Shaune Bazner passed away peacefully at home in the company of her sons Malcolm and Murphy, her daughter-in-law Cara Beth Rogers and her future son- in-law Tyler Green. Shaune had been battling cancer, bravely, for three years. Her family helped her in this battle every step of the way. Shaune was born in Natick, Massachusetts but spent her early childhood in Glencoe Illinois. Her family moved back east to Connecticut where she attended Staples High School in Westport. From there she went on to college at Southern Seminary in Virginia. She had life-long friends from wherever she lived. After college Shaune moved to Florida where she taught high school physical education. Then, with her sisters Megan and Jamie she moved to Boulder Colorado where she joined a professional modern dance company. An ankle injury scuttled her dance career, so she moved back home to Westport. There, she reunited with a childhood family friend Peter Miller. In 1983 Shaune was married on Block Island to Pete with whom she had two sons. In 1984 she moved to Washington DC where she established her company Mei Fa, a successful Shaune Bazner Accessories brand for forty years. Shaune retired in 2020. This gave her more time to pursue her passion: her family and friends. She was a frequent traveler with Malcolm and Murphy including a river trip through the Grand Canyon, holiday trips to California and Arizona, adventure travel to Baja and Costa Rica and plenty of visits with her sisters and old friends. Retirement also gave her time to paint. Always an artist, designer and nature lover, her paintings combine these skills and interests. Her colors are as vivid as she was. Shaune is remembered for her grace, her style and her beauty. Generous of spirit, she inspired countless friends, neighbors, acquaintances and colleagues to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations. She was a particularly good role model for working mothers. She cared about people, and they knew it. Shaune was often the life of the party, leading her guests from cocktails in her kitchen to the trampoline in the back yard. She loved to dance and to laugh, often at herself. She had a dramatic flair which would amuse and delight us. She was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, and friend, always available, ever-empathetic, considerate, thoughtful and kind. Shaune Bazner is survived by her sisters Megan Brogden, Jamie Bazner, Brenan McGarrigle, her brother Trip Bazner and pre-deceased by her eldest sister Erin Noonan. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Shaune’s life under the Gemini sun.
