Wayne Ronald Johnson Sr.

Wayne Ronald Johnson Sr. was born February 24,1944 in Pomonkey, MD to the late Wallace Sr. and Agnes (Gray) Johnson. He fell asleep in death at age 78, surrounded by family, on the afternoon of Wednesday March 30, 2022. Wayne grew up with his six siblings in Charles County, MD and graduated from Pomonkey High School. After graduation, he entered the military where he served in Vietnam. In 1978, he became baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In 1980 he married Lillie Johnson. He was blessed with a stepson, Charles; and she was blessed with a stepdaughter, Ronyelle. Together they were blessed with a daughter, Waynenetta and a son, Wayne Jr. Wayne loved taking his family on yearly vacations. He found joy in recording family trips & activities and loved looking over his pictures and videos with family. Some of his favorite activities were camping, fishing, crabbing, hand-dancing and listening to his favorite group, The Temptations. . Wayne loved spending time with his wife, always taking off the week of their anniversary. They frequently went on trips and cruises. He worked part-time for Prince George's County Maryland as a Crossing Guard and affectionately referred to the kids as “his children”. After retiring from his full-time career with the United States Postal Service, he became a full-time Minister…following Jesus’ command at Matthew 24:14 and preaching about the good news of God’s Kingdom. He always enjoyed talking to others about Jehovah God and His wonderful promises. He loved spending time with and assisting the friends as a congregation elder. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Sr and Agnes Johnson; his sister, Brenda Short; and his brother, Arnold Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 42 years Lillie Johnson; two daughters, Ronyelle (Ronnie) and Waynenetta; a step-son, Andre ‘Charles’ Santos; a son, Wayne Jr; an affectionate adopted daughter, Sherika Hamlett; six grandchildren, LaShawn Bush, Keawe Bush, Donovan Santos, Aiden Santos, Cian Santos, Tristan Johnson; two sisters, Barbara Chapman and Lola Wilson (Isaac); two brothers, Wallace Johnson Jr. (Denise), Carl Johnson (Corrine); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many dear friends. The memorial service for Wayne will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11AM via virtual video on Zoom. The meeting ID is: 839 7454 2733.
