Reginald (“Reggie”) Brett Lucas Born on February 19th 1971 to John Carter (Sally) and the late Derbie Lucas Darden (Larry). In Wilson, NC. Reggie was called home on Sunday, May 1 2022 at the age of 51. Reggie moved to Washington, D.C at the age of 4, later graduating from Suitland High School in 1989. Reggie was a very hard-working man. He was first employed at the age of 15 starting at Murry’s . Later moving on to start his career at Safeway/Giant for a combined 27 years. After leaving Giant Reggie was employed with D.C. Government, Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) as a Recreational Specialist. Reggie had recently enrolled in Wilson Community College studying Pharmaceutical Manufacturing. Earlier in life Reggie attended Salem Baptist Church Northwest, Washington, DC. Later in life Reggie was a Member of the Church of the Living God in Suitland, Maryland. Reggie was all about what he liked to call “Family Time”. For those who attended Sunday dinner you know and remember the text messages you received. While working for DPR he held the position of Shop Steward for the Union, was part of a mentoring team Young Men Future Leaders as well as the T-ball coach. Additionally, Reggie was a member of Nation Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA). To know Reggie was to know his favorite football team was The Dallas Cowboys because he would not let you forget it. Win or lose he was wearing his jersey. If you were over for Sunday dinner during the game and Dallas lost you would be royally dismissed from his house. Reggie loved traveling especially with his significant other. He was all about traveling and spending time with his family, especially “Aj” that was his world. He looked forward to retiring and being “Papa”. Reggie will truly be missed. Reggie leaves to mourn Talisha Carrington-Montiel (Antonio Sr.) Nyya Gilchrist, Julian Jones and Keairra Queen. Grandsons: Antonio Montiel Jr and the late Cody Williams, Significant other: Sharon Gilchrist. Sibling’s: Duwayne Lucas, Tracy Edwards, Sabrina Edwards, Chanda Cooper Brandon and Casey Cook. Nieces and Nephew: Torey Edwards, Lykeyia Lucas, Kiara Edwards, Latoya Williams, LaQuita Lucas, Courtney Edwards, Dawanda Lucas, Duwayne Lucas Jr., Chandler Clarke, Camryn Edwards, Christopher Edwards, and a host of aunts, cousins, great nieces and nephews. Reggie was preceded in death by his mother Derbie Darden-Lucas Aunts: Mary L. Walker & Joyce A. Lucas Uncles: Elmo L Lucas.
