Jeffery Michael Anderson

Jeffery Michael Anderson was born in Pitt County, Greenville, NC on Tuesday December 1, 1959. He transitioned into his new life on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Washington Hospital Center. Jeffery was educated in the DC Public School system; at an early age he showed lots of personality and was known to leave a lasting impression on his teachers at Blow Pierce Elementary School. He enjoyed his childhood years, and the many activities like boy scouts, playing with the neighbor- hood kids and the many adventurous activities with his brothers and sisters, and was fascinated with his summers spent in the country with his cousins. He was always excited to be present and take part in the family reunions, he enjoyed being with his family and friends. He valued the love of his family. His love for his parents was made known to many that knew him. He spoke of his parents with so much joy and passion, and shared many happy stories about his up bringing in the Anderson household. It warmed his heart and made him proud to let those know, who would listen, about his loving family and his amazing parents. In spite of many adversities in life, Jeffery understood the call of the creator, to seek the creator’s help and to ask for forgiveness in his times of weakness. He prayed for guidance and strength every day. Jeffery became a father at an early age and developed a strong bond with his children. They brought him so much joy and filled his heart with wounder and love. He was extremely proud of his children, Shuy, Ayyisha and Jeff, they were the apple of his eye. His time spent with his children were some of the best days of his life that embodied him with a sense of security, strength and unconditional love that warmed his heart beyond expression. As life unfolded for Jeffery he became a grandfather, he was very proud to be called “Pop Pop” by his loving grandchildren, whom he adored. He was always amazed with the stories that were shared with him about their development and growth. He enjoyed spending the time he had with them; each moment made imprints upon his heart that touched his soul. His children and grandchildren surrounded him with love and joy that calmed the storms of life and allowed him to look for that rainbow of hope. Jeffery excelled in most everything he chose to do. Working for Pepco in the field mainte- nance and repair afforded him the skills and fundamentals in electric distribution that he took pride in, as he assisted with ensuring safe, clean energy for customers. As a mortician assistant at Genesis Funeral Home, he demonstrated commitment, dependability, and provided service excellence. Taking pride in doing a great job was his motto. Jeffery found enjoyment in bowling, traveling and he loved going to the beach. He was a history buff, occasionally quoting facts about African and American history. He loved his comedies, as he was one himself most days. Whether he was listening to Richard Pryor or watching Bernie Mac, he found enjoyment. It was a pleasure to hear him laugh, he loved Westerns and could not wait to see the movie, The Harder They Fall, which was based on real black cowboys. (He was our personal cowboy)!! He took such pride in his appearance and loved dressing sharp. There were times when he would even have clothing custom made by designers, which added to his style. Jeffery was a true admirer of automobiles. Name one, and he had it! He could drive ANYTHING!! He literally drove a tractor from work to the Greater Southeast hospital to see his son Jeffery enter the world. (True Story) Jeffery was truly one of a kind. He was extremely generous and loved giving a great tip when he received exceptional customer service. He understood what true service was and enjoyed providing it. He was honored beyond words, to step in after his brother Fred’s death, to give guidance and advice to his nieces and nephews. He had truly memorable friendships and remained loyal to those he loved. He always encouraged his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews to be the best at whatever they chose to do. He taught extremely valuable lessons that many will cherish forever. His special bond with his Moor brothers renewed his strength in times of challenge. His relationship with Brother Jones-Bey exemplified a lasting brotherhood. Jeffery had exceptional love for his Son-In-Law, Kevin, whom he shared many stories about. Mr. Jeffery Michael Anderson fought a good fight to the end. He was incredibly strong and courageous in his last days. There are so many stories of how he “held court” while in the hospital, making his friends and family laugh and passing along advice. He was quite generous in that way. It was amazing to witness such strength during such sickness. He found strength in his last hours to reach out to those he loved to Bid Farewell! He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Fred and Virginia Anderson; his three children, Shuyinthia Hembry (Kevin), Jeffery Turner and Ayyisha Turner; his grandchildren; Robby, Amir, Norri, Ahmad, and Jeffrey, Jr.; his fiancée, Francine Bryant; his siblings: Terry, Wayne (Inga), Lisa, Adriane, and Andre, One uncle Bennie Roundtree, special brother- cousin, Andrew Daniels and a host of nieces , nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Fred Anderson, Jr., his brother-cousin, Angelo Daniels and best friend, Larry Tines. The spirit of the man was Love! Love Always!
